Our Story

We are Nolan and Nicole, we started our farming journey as a way to provide healthy, sustainable meat and produce for our family. We purchased our first two feeder pigs in 2020. A lot was learned in that first summer of raising pigs. We also learned that we absolutely loved the pigs! We soon realized that we wanted to utilize our overgrown pastures but did not want the pigs to completely destroy everything. After taking the winter to plan more we decided to go with the Idaho Pasture Pig. We started with Marty and Shelia, our boar and sow. We went with the Idaho because of their ability to thrive on pasture while minimally disturbing the soil. Our farm is centered around soil health. Our soil is just as important as our animals and crops. It provides the nourishment for our animals as well as ourselves. To further our self-sustaining life we also obtained a breeding trio of Silver Fox Rabbits. Our rabbits provide us with lots and lots of manure which is then composted by the chickens and spread onto our gardens and pastures to provide us with vegetables all year long. As first generation farmers who have grown up in the era of pesticides and artificial fertilizers we have rediscovered the thrill of making our own compost. We have seen the wonders it can do as well. What we have learned is that through careful management with livestock, building soil through composting and grazing, and a ton of hard work, we can accomplish our goals of being a sustainable farm that feeds our family and yours.
